Describe the detail, not the ideal body
Choose a small set of references and label the detail that interests you: a square neckline, a flowing skirt or a removable sleeve. Separate those details from the model’s pose, lighting and body shape. An AI preview may alter proportions or invent construction that a real dress does not have. Do not use a generated silhouette as a target for your body or assume that a style recommendation is an objective verdict.
Bring questions that images cannot answer
Make a brief with your preferred details, venue context and spending boundary. Ask which similar garments exist, which sizes can be tried and how alterations are handled. During a fitting, sit, walk and raise your arms in a way appropriate to the appointment. Notice weight, closures and how the fabric moves. Ask before taking photographs, and label each permitted picture with the actual dress reference so different appointments do not blend together.
Compare garments after the appointment
Write a few immediate notes about comfort, movement, appearance and unresolved questions. Compare the real options using the same categories rather than choosing only the most dramatic photograph. Confirm what is included, the alteration process and the expected timeline directly with the boutique before committing. If a generated detail cannot be reproduced, decide whether the underlying preference matters more than that exact image. A simpler neckline or different fabric may express the same idea.
Take it with you
- Label the specific details you like in each reference.
- Use real fittings to assess movement and comfort.
- Confirm garment and alteration details with the boutique.
